Difference Between a 9 cell & a 6 Cell Laptop Battery: |

1. A 9 cell lithium Lenovo ThinkPad X61 battery has a charge capacity which is about 50 percent greater than that of a 6 cell battery. A 6 cell lithium ion freestyle will last from 1 to 2 hours (depending on the laptop's joie de vivre consumption. I recommend going with the 9 cell which will hold at least 3 possibly for hours of battery time on a full charge, though it will cost more.
2. 9 cell Lenovo ThinkPad X61 batteries are always more expensive than 6 cell batteries. Price ranges and differences vary widely by battery model.
3. Over time, charge integrity of Lenovo ThinkPad X61 laptop batteries decreases. A 9 cell battery has a better chance of being able to hold its charge after a few years of usage because it has additional cells that may not die out. This is assuming that both batteries are created by the same manufacturer.
4. 9 cell batteries are much bulkier and tend to protrude from laptop bodies. They cause the laptop to become heavier and lean toward the back. Six-cell batteries blend in with most laptop builds; they are the current industry standard.
